When heat is added to water, the water will change into water vapor because of how hot it gets. We tend to see the water boiling in this process, or when you see the bubbles in your mom's pot in the kitchen when she cooks spaghetti. When heat is taken away from the water, it will turn into a solid form, or freeze into ice.

Water is heated we get boiling solution (water is evaporated).

Water is cooled we get ice form(water is freezing).

Why may the temperature of a substance change when energy is added?

Thermal energy of a substance is determined by the movement of the molecules and the potential energy of the arrangement of molecules. Heat transfer will stop when thermal equilibrium is reached. It depends upon the substance how long that takes.

What does the heating and cooling of molecules do?

Changes the movement of the molecules as the heat is added and subtracted.

During a change is state energy is transferred in the form of?

Usually in the form of increased or decreased kinetic energy of the molecules and added or reduced inter-molecular potential energy. Which way it goes depends on the direction of change in state.

What happens to the energy added during a phase change?

The added energy is used in the phase change to break intermolecular bonds. It is used for the phase change. ~ APEX

When energy is added to matter what happens to the mollecules and atoms?

When energy is added to matter, the molecules and atoms gain kinetic energy and begin to move faster. This increased movement leads to an increase in the temperature of the substance. Additionally, the increased energy can cause molecules and atoms to vibrate more vigorously and may lead to changes in their arrangement or state (such as melting or evaporation) depending on the amount of energy added.

What happens to the energy added during the phase change?

When energy is added during a phase change the energy is used to break molecular bonds.
