Catholic bishops are priests who are appointed to their positions by their superiors. A bishop is normally ordained by other bishops.
Choosing bishops is a matter of seeing what priests have the most experience, skills and knowledge of theology and administration etc., the same as filling a position of importance in any big organisations
Roman Catholic AnswerNormally, the current bishops in a province will sent their recommendations to the nuncio. The nuncio will sent his recommendations to the Holy Father. The Holy Father makes the final decision on who should be chosen for bishop. Then the priest chosen is asked by the nuncio if he will accept the position. If so, the Holy Father announces his choice and an ordination date is set.Type your answer here... They don't just get their jobs. Before a person can be selected to be put forward for training (a long and academic process), they first have to be strictly vetted about their lifestyle and background, education, faith ect and after a number of years training will be ordained to the diaconate and then after a further point( at least a year) he will be priested. Answer Depends on the religion. Priests, mullahs, bishops, popes, cardinals, monks, etc. Popes etc. set doctrine on what's acceptable or not i.e. taught/preached etc. Bishops and popes aren't teachers; a rabbi, an imam and an ulema teach.
Popes wear clothing under their religious garments as do all priests and bishops,
Pope Benedict was never married. Popes do not marry, nor do priests or bishops.
He didn't get married. Priests (and transitional deacons, bishops, popes, etc) take a vow of celibacy.
The apostles were the first priests and bishops of the Catholic Church.
Yes and no. All popes are priests (bishops) but not all priests are popes. There is one pope but many priests. The pope is the leader of the Catholic Church, chosen in a secret election by the College of Cardinals.
Cardinals elect Popes, but they are not necessarily bishops.
Because they are the ones who interpret the bible. (Bishops & Popes)
The tradition of the Pope wearing a white Cassock started with Pope Pius V who was a Dominican, and instead of adopting the red worn by previous Popes, he continued to wear his Dominican Habit [with the distinctions of his Office, of course] Each level of the Church's hierarchy has its traditional color: popes wear white, cardinals wear red, bishops wear violet and priests wear black.
Bishops normally ordain priests into bishophood.
