A seal must stay near the water
yes actually they do because they are in the seal family and so they have the same characteristic as a seal!!
No! They must stay in water or they will dry up!
they can stay above water for mostly, forever! They are mammals and are land mammals, but just choose to live their life in water. they're not a fish, though. All they need is to keep their bodies moist so they don't get dried, because their skin isn't made for the dry land. but, they can stay above water as long as we humans can mostly, except they just need to have their lower body in the water so their skin doesnt dry
I changed out the water pump in my 1999 deville. Once you remove the old water pump there is a circle with a hump at the top (forming a saggin water balloon shape) on the casing. It is a just big enough to place the seal in but very hard to get to stay. I out it on then had the water pump and special tool ready to put on so the seal did not fall out. -jt25saint
