All of the planets help hold the Earth in the proper orbit so it is not too far away from the Sun and not too close to the Sun, either of which would make Earth inhospitable for our life forms. The larger plants also possibly attract astroids which might collide with Earth and wipe out life. The solar system is a delicate balance of gravity, rocks, planets and other material and water which allows us to live on Earth.
