A broken starter housing is typically caused by either improper installation or manufacturing defect.
The starter on a 98 V6 Camaro should be on the side of the engine block. It is close to the rear at the bell housing.
As with almost ALL modern vehicles, the starter relay/solenoid is attached to and an integral part of the starter MOTOR.
It is attached to the starter, which is under the car. Look for the rear of the starter sticking out on the driver's side of the car. Remove the housing cover (3 bolts), and then the 2 bolts hold in the starter to remove it and gain access to the solenoid. TD

does anyone know where a starter is located on a 98 acura 3.5 RL
The solenoid is on the starter.
Could be: but - Get the part number for the 98 olds replacement from your online auto parts and the number for the year you have on hand and see if they are the same. Pull the 98 starter and compare it with the old starter you have.
sounds like something broke on the track. Chechk out sunroofdoctor.com. Saturn will replace the whole unit for $1200.00 Good luck. This is this way I will never by another Saturn. It should have been recalled. Steve
