Heat from the sun creates convection currents which is where air rises and moves outwards, then sinks, and rises again and moves outwards again etc... And these muddled convection currents are more commonly known as wind. Hurricanes are most basically very windy storms, so if the suns energy makes wind, then it makes hurricanes too.
