Another example of how this amendment is important to Americans in present day is that it prevents the government from building cameras in an individuals home for spying.

The third amendment prohibits the quartering of soldiers in peace time without the consent of the owner. It also only allows quartering of soldiers during war under appropriate laws - likely implying that the owner of the property must be reimbursed for costs.

This amendment has not been a major issue since the United States won its independence. The reason for the amendment was due to the practice of the British government forcing colonists to quarter British soldiers - with all cost being paid by the local authorities. While the 3rd Amendment relates to the quartering of soldiers in your own homes, I think you would be rather silly to get rid of it. You just don't know what might happen.
