timing affects your chances very much because of a few reasons,
1, you dont want to be the firt one to be interviewed because no matter how good you were you will most likely become forgotten by the peron in charge of the interviews
2, you dont want to be the last one intervied because most of the time the interviewers get focused on one person and by the time they get to the last person they have already made up their mind.
3, you want to be somewhat in the middle of the interviews so they have heard some bad interviews that make you look better.
