If you are speaking about the United Kingdom (which is where I live),

--The north wind(s), also known as the Polar Continental (Northeast) or the Polar Maritime (Northwest) bring snow and chills.

--The tropical continental (from the southeast) brings warm, relatively dry weather, as it comes from Africa.

--The tropical maritime is the most common wind as is wet and cool.

Check http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/education/secondary/students/airmasses.html#trop_mari for more information.

If you live in America...can't help you. -_-
