Lower a arm lift
Remove the water supply hose from the top of your 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. Lift the old thermostat out. Drop the new thermostat in and reverse the process.
1 or 2 inch lift
Drain the water from your 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo cooling system. Remove the water supply hose. Remove the thermostat housing retaining bolts. The thermostat will lift out. Reverse the process to install the new thermostat.

Remove the cables from the 2001 Monte Carlo, then take out the battery hold down. Lift the battery out and put the new one in. Install the hold down, then connect the cables back.
it is located at the front of the motor . u can get to it by using a jack but alot easier if on a lift.
35" Tires will require a 6" suspension lift to clear with no rubbing. A cheaper alternative is a 3" body lift, and 33" tires, although not as appealing.
