Natural gas can be considered either a wet gas or dry gas. A wet gas has associated liquids which can be condensed out of the gas at surface conditions. See related link.
Dry ice is solid carbon dioxide, which sublimes (goes directly from a solid to a gas). So it releases the gas as it sublimes.
Sublimation is the conversion of dry ice.
If you heat dry ice, it turns in to CO2 gas. This is easily seen when you put dry ice in to hot water. You see tons of tiny CO2 gas bubbles popping up.

A flare joint is used on gas fittings and uses a nut and flare fitting to make the connection. This is a dry fit with no joint compound. The copper is soft enough that it compresses with the nut and forms the seal.

To fix a gas tank seal leak you must drain the gas into an empty bucket and remove the tank. Then, cover the outlet holes with putty and re-install it.
