Before modern civilization early man were hunter and gathers.. meaning they did not have established any form of agriculture as we know it today… such as herding or farming.

Early man would have picked wheat and other grains kind of like we pick wild berries during camping trips…

While we can imagine that often the wild grains would be the dominant plant… and a given region of land so the early humans wouldn't have to search for it… as if it was some elusive 4 leaf clover.
