Home Tests - Urine
Pregnancy can be discovered very early on with some of the new pregnancy tests. Some home tests can detect a pregnancy within days of conception however the further into the pregnancy the more accurate the test. The accuracy of the test relies heavily on detection of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG)and the amount that is released. This hormone is not released until implantation of the blastocyst in the uterine wall which usually occurs around day 6-12, still the amount of hCG may be too weak to detect at this stage but not impossible. False negatives are very common at this stage (prior to a missed menstruation) therefore it is suggested that if you test negative to test again in another week or two. A positive result at this point is rarely false.
Laboratory Tests
Detection of pregnancy can occur within 48 hours of conception using more complicated testing methods, usually performed at a laboratory. These tests are generally considered cost prohibitive.
No. The number of weeks generally go by your last menstrual period, so 2 weeks would be around the time you'd be ovulating; in other words--you wouldn't even have an embryo yet. If you mean 2 weeks after conception, it's possible an ultrasound might be able to pick up a gestational sac, but you won't see the actual embryo until you are at least 5 weeks (3 weeks after conception) along.
You can detect pregnancy one week before menses also. But then it will be expensive and no way shorten the duration of pregnancy. Embryo is too small to remove by suction evacuation at this stage and your Gynecologist will like to wait till 10 to 15 days after expected date of menses, before she gives you tablets for termination of pregnancy. By that time if termination, by chance, remain incomplete, she will be comfortable to remove it by suction and evacuation. And please be specific about your question. After 2 weeks of what ?
Very good question! I do believe it can, but I am not positive.
well i had one today at 4 weeks 4 days and before she even scanned me she told me she wouldn't be able to see anything. but she did see thickened womb lining and said that was a good sign.

The word transvaginal means through the vagina. An example is when an ultrasound is done very early in a pregnancy it has to be done by inserting a device into the vagina.
A specially designed transducer probe can be placed in the vagina to provide better ultrasound images. This transvaginal or endovaginal scan is particularly useful in early pregnancy or in cases where ectopic pregnancy is suspected.
If you are in the early stages of a pregnancy, a transvaginal ultrasound is preferred over a transabdominal ultrasound (scanning through the top of the lower abdomen) because a transvaginal ultrasound provides much more detail and accuracy in assessing a fetus. Early on in pregnancy, the baby is extremely small, only a few millimeters long in the first few weeks. A transvaginal ultrasound will allow the doctor to see the baby's heart beat, even at 5 weeks old in the womb, whereas a transabdominal ultrasound would have an extremely hard time seeing something so tiny. If you are NOT pregnant, and you had t have this type of exam, this is nothing out of he ordinary. Sometimes, during a transabdominal ultrasound, gas from your stomach and bowel can get in the way, making it very hard to see organs such as the uterus and ovaries. If you do not have a full bladder, it will be nearly impossible to obtain medically relevant images through your stomach. A transvaginal ultrasound does not need a full bladder nor does it rely so much on the absence of bowel gas. In this case, it also provides much greater detail than a transabdominal ultrasound.
You should not perform a hysterosonogram if you are pregnant. Perhaps a transvaginal ultrasound.
Most pregnant women get an ultrasound at the second trimester of pregnancy where the young fetus is most visible but it is possible to get an early ultrasound in case there may be any complications in early pregnancy.
External ultrasounds can only detect pregnancy when you are more than about 5-6 weeks wereas if you have an internel ultrasound they can detect pregnancy from as early as 4weeks. In answer to your question you are either not as far gone as originally thort and would have to have a internal ultrasound to dertimine/detect pregnancy or you are just not pregnant.AnswerI'm suprised that they wouldn't tell you when you got it done. The fetus at that age is so small its very possible that you could not see it. Or you are not as far along as you thought and it was just a yolk sack.
No, it is very safe. This is a common way of verifing early pregnancy.
my step sister had a baby and she had her first ultra sound at 2 months so yes i believe it's still early. Actually I had an Ultrasound done at 5 weeks and 5 days. They were able to see the sac, baby and pick up the heart beat at 122 bpm. So no, it it not too early to get an ultrasound.
The best and most reliable way to confirm a twin or multiple pregnancy is to see it with an ultrasound. An ultrasound is the only guaranteed way to know whether you're carring more than one baby. An ultrasound may be able to detect multiple embryos as early as your third week of pregnancy; However, the ultrasound will be most reliable at detecting a multiple or twin pregnancy at around 6 to 8 weeks.
An ultrasound is a common procedure that is often performed in pregnant dogs. It can detect as help determine pregnancy as early as 18 days after ovulation and around day 23 it is possible to hear the puppy's heart beats. The ultrasound is harmless and many prefer it to x-rays.
It is advisable to have the pap smear and ultrasound, they should not affect your pregnancy in any way and will help detect any early abnormalities. These are not the likely cause of your miscarriages in the past, so I encourage you to have these done
14 days after intercourse.
