Its very easy, go to your local GM parts counter and order a pigtail for the blower motor resistor harness, all you need to do is cut and connect the appropriate wires together and youll be all set.
You can get a replacement part from your local NAPA store for about 12 bucks.. it is located on the heater box in the engine compartment on the passenger side. follow the wiring harness and you will find it.. I'm guessing, your fan only works on high ??
1. heat control linkage disconnected or broken or vacuum source problems(low vaccum source or broken vacuum lines) 2. heater unit doors stuck or non functioning heater door actuators
switch, blower, wiring between.Could be that the resistor is not locked into place all the way after you put it in....you really have to cram the aftermarket ones into place and make sure they are snapped in. (have fun getting back at it...they are in the worst place ever)if it only works on 5, it is definitly the resistor. So, put a third one in. Theres probly a water leak into the heater box that's getting onto the resistor, shorting it out
No, the entire dash has to be removed.
I wouldn't replace it, just fix it. Check heatertreater.net for information on how.
You will need to remove the dash and it should be somewhere under
Drop the glovebox door and you will have access to it.
Bad blower resistor?
Defective blower motor Resistor Pack. Replace it.
i need to replace the temperature control light bulb on my 2004 silverado.
Just did that on mine. You can get the resistor at Autozone, but more than likely, your harness is fried. This is a common problem, but the harness is a dealer only item. The fix is easy, you'll need to take the cover off (big black plastic box under the dash). Just take the screws out & lower the box. You will need to cut the wires & splice the new harness in. Your harness will come with everything needed (connectors). The resistor cost around 20-25 bucks, but the harness will set you back about 100.
The a/c heater blower motor resister is located in the vehicle on the passengers side inside the housing next to the blower motor...............Remove the blower motor resistor wire harness connector.Remove the blower motor resistor screws.Remove the blower motor resistor.
How do you replace the fan motor on a jeep cheerkie
Replace heater motor resistor.
in the passenger foot compartment, the duct work for your heater is above the passengers feet, under the dash. there is a harness plugged into a resistor (fan speed) that is held in the plastic duct by 2 screws. unplug the resistor, unscrew the 2 screws, your old resistor will come right out. put the new resistor up in its place, put the screws back in, the plug the harness back in. takes about 20 minutes.
the heater blower resistor is located on the passenger side footwell near the firewall. a complete how-to replace the resistor, along with photos is available on newcougar.org http://www.newcougar.org/forums/how-tos/3732-fixing-heater-blower-resistor-install-photos.html
