While there are not medical disorders that really cause eating disorders, certain mental conditions (OCD, BDD, low self-esteem/depression, etc.) may worsen or lead to eating disroders.

Sometimes injury that prevents a person from being active may lead to disordered eating habits as that person tries to diet to maintain a healthy weight and shape while they are medically unable to participate or be active. This usually ends as they heal or regain health enough to become active again. If this does not occur - though it is very rare - a more serious eating disorder may develop.

The Pro-Anorexia movement has evolved over the past decade. Girls and boys with Eating Disorders flock to these websites to get and give support to those suffering from Eating Disrders.
