The Bronx, although all of the boroughs are pretty close to each other (except for Staten Island and the Bronx, which are roughly 15 miles apart). Brooklyn shares a border with Queens, and is separated from Manhattan and Staten Island by waterways that are no more than a mile wide. They are maybe a little over 3 miles apart from each other, as the crow flies, according to the measurements I got from Google Maps. I am including a link to a New York City subway map that shows you all the five boroughs, except Staten Island. You can see the tip of Staten Island at the bottom left corner of the map, but the entire island is not shown, since the subway doesn't go there.
Queens is a borough in the city of New York. Long Island is the name of the island that Queens to the North and Brooklyn to the South are on. Queens and Brooklyn are on the Western end of Long Island. Nassau and Suffolk are other counties on Long Island. For some people, Queens and Brooklyn are not apart of Long Island, (they consider New York City to be separate from Long Island), but, they are on the western part of the island.
They are about 5 2/3 (five and two-thirds) miles apart as the crow flies (meaning, if you were to draw an imaginary straight line between them on the map).
the island is splitting apart because it is following the rule of pangea
