120 ft in 12 seconds
The distance covered by the Wright Brothers during their first flight was 120ft
their last flight was as far as my penis..........(which is pretty far, like up to Pluto or something)
Historians credit France's Montgolfier brothers with pioneering balloon flight in 1783, and Germany's Otto Lilienthal with the first successful glider flight in the 1890s. America's Wright brothers made the first successful flight in a small engine plane in 1903. While these accomplishments were certainly groundbreaking, they were far from man's first attempt to fly.
They were mechanically inclined anyway, and ran a bicycle factory and were fascinated with flight since childhood when their father gave them a flying model. They could see flight was going to be a big thing and worked hard to get in on it.
On its first flight, a mere forty yards, but it flew further on subsequent flights.
100 feet up in the air; lasted only 12 seconds
The Wright brothers achieved it on their Flyer on December 17, 1903. It lasted 12 seconds and went 120 feet.
it was about 2 hours and 880 feet stupid
Not really. And it all depends on what one means by the word "fly", and what degree of significance one places on official recordings, of declared feats. Many people floated around in hot air balloons, and uncontrolled dirigibles, as well as "falling with style" in gliders and parachutes, long before the Wrights took off for their official first recorded powered flight of a heavier than air craft. The first officially successful powered and controlled flight of any type was made in an internal combustion engine propelled dirigible, by Henri Giffard, in 1852. The first airplane was probably used in the mid 1890's. It didn't fly high or far and may have been used by any of a hundred or so avid flyers. -Most crashed and went back to the search for perfect flight. Many people flew before the Wrights.
The first flight of the Wright Flyer was only 120 feet. However, the Wright brothers made several other flights that day including one that covered over 850 feet.
The first hot air balloon flight, conducted by the Montgolfier brothers in 1783 in France, traveled about 5.5 miles (9 km) and lasted for roughly 25 minutes.
She wasn't planning on going far. Her first flight was around Kinner Field near LA.
