First off, good luck. I drove from Babenhausen Germany to Rome but i took three days. It's a 12 hour drive. Do not make the drive down the Alps into Rome at night. A treacherous drive down hill, through tunnels that go through the mountain as long as 8 K's. You'll be going through towns like Strasbourg, Basel, Milan, Parma, Bologna and then the near death defying drive down the alps into Rome. Parma is a good stop for food. Bologna is not. The best McDonalds I've ever been to is in Parma. But go to a cafe and have some meat and cheese. If you would like a day trip, try Steve and Enza's in Babenhausen, Germany. Great food and tell Enza I said hello. In Parma, try the Strike Out Cafe. We had a great lunch there.
