How far does a atomic bomb blow in miles?
Cannot answer; depends on the yield, burst height/depth, etc. Some examples of optimal altitude airbursts: Low yield tactical weapon, blast radius < 0.1 mile. Tzar Bomba (over 50MTon yield), blast radius 60 miles. Above or below the optimal altitude the blast radius of an airburst is reduced. Surface and subsurface bursts have much smaller blast radius values than airbursts. A deep enough subsurface burst can be entirely contained and have no effect on the surface (except for a brief earthquake if underground, or millions of tiny radioactive bubbles rising to surface if underwater).

What is the blast radius of a nuclear weapon?
That depends on what you're referring to: The fireball radius (the nuclear explosion itself), the total anhiliation range radius, and etc. For example, the bomb launched on Hiroshima had a fireball of several hundred feet in radius, a 1km total destruction range radius, and severe damage for miles. For firepower bombs (nuclear bombs made for power show & not effectiveness) The Tsar bomba of USSR had 50~55 megatons of TNT firepower, a fireball with 1km+ radius, total destruction for miles, and created a sound shockwave that could be heard in Norway/Other far Northern European areas. Modern nuclear weapons don't have a single blast radius; the U.S. developed M.I.R.V.s (cluster nuclear bombs) that spread apart to create a shotgun blast of multiple nuclear explosions.

Were nukes used in WW1?
No. The science hadn't progressed that far. The first use of air power and bombing was in WW1. The nuclear bomb wasn't developed until the end of WW2 and dropped on Japan with 2 bombs on 2 cities. The bombs were named "Big Boy " and "Little Boy " and were literally shoved out of the planes. The men in the planes were hit by the blast and years later died of cancer. Millions in Japan died, suffered burns, or radiation poisoning.
