It depends what the volcano spits out. Pyroclastic flows can move at over 450 mph . It is a mixture of extremely hot gasses, ash and rock - and will literally obliterate everything in its path. That includes trees, plants and any animals that cannot escape from it.

The speed at which a volcano eruption can damage the land depends on various factors, including the type of volcano, the size of the eruption, and the proximity of human settlements or infrastructure. Some volcanic eruptions can cause immediate damage within minutes to hours, such as pyroclastic flows or lava flows. However, other forms of damage, like ash fall or lahars (volcanic mudflows), may occur gradually over a longer period.

How does volcano affect land if it continues to erupt?

The products of a volcano eruption can negatively affect the land around a volcano. The lava that emerges from volcanos during eruption can (due to its heat) destroy plants and objects that it comes into contact with. Volcanic ash, also released during eruption, can cause damage to plants, either by crushing them or by preventing enough sunlight from reaching their leaves (which inhibits the production of food for plants).

What is the damage volcanoes cause?

Volcanic eruptions can cause earthquakes, fast floods, mud slides, and rock falls. Lava can travel very far and burn, bury, or damage anything in its path, including people, houses, and trees. The large amount of dust and ash can cause roofs to fall, makes it hard to breathe, and is normally very smelly. The ground around the volcano is not secure and can cause big earthquakes.
