To change the alternator belt on a Peugeot 406 2.1 TD, first, disconnect the battery to ensure safety. Loosen the tensioner pulley by using a suitable tool to relieve tension on the belt. Remove the old belt from the pulleys, then thread the new belt around the pulleys according to the routing diagram, ensuring it sits correctly. Finally, adjust the tensioner to apply the correct tension to the new belt before reconnecting the battery.
The torque settings for the head bolts on a Peugeot 406 2.0 TD HDI typically range from 20 to 25 Nm for the initial stage, followed by a further angle tightening of 90 degrees. Always consult the specific service manual for your vehicle for precise specifications, as variations may exist based on engine type and production year. It's also crucial to ensure that the bolts are tightened in the correct sequence to avoid warping the cylinder head.
I have the Peugeot 406 2.1 td glx model and i know it may differ slightly from model to model but my fan motor just went, i bought one from the local breakers yard and it worked a dream, its under the glove box on the passenger side, there is srcews all around the fan and there is awkward plugs all around it to undo it but get a recon one or a secondhand on to replace it as they are expensive to buy new if you can find one.
check battery, if not check fuel pump very common on these
