As a recruiter, I would consider an applicant flexible if they are versatile, adaptable, and have open availability. To have the ability to work any task, position, schedule or environment assigned to them. With the proper training of course.

When I hear about flexibility in a job, I think of flexibility in three areas. The first being in time and task; that is the nature of the job will allow me to have a choice in the start and end time (to some extent) and choice of tasks that I would like to work on. Moreover, flexibility also hint to me that more than one person will work on projects so if things come up, the flexibility of my job will allow me to deal with that (if necessary of course). This will reduce job overload and stress. Another aspect of work that I think flexibility entails is in terms of career path. That is I will be able to branch onto different task to be able to gain experience of the different jobs available in the company. Also maternity leave (though a far away thought) will not be an obstacle in my career. Finally, because I'm in business school, I hear a lot about the new trend in work space, that organizations are become more flexible in terms of virtual work (to work from home, or away from the office). With today's technology, this is very much a feasible option.
