One thing to know is that steel strings are hard on your fingers until the ends of your fingers start to toughen up, so sometimes it is an advantage to start off learning on a nylon string acoustic guitar. But it doesn't really matter, use what ever guitar you have but it is hard at the start and you need to persevere.
