한류 Hallyu refers to the spread of Korean pop culture that began in the late 1990s. The phrase, "韓流," was coined by Beijing journalists who were surprised at the popularity level of Korean cultural exports. The phrase literally means "the flow of Korea" or the "Korean flow." The hallyu force is even stronger today than it was in the 1990s with fans of Korean entertainment spreading all over the world, in big part, due to all the numerous Youtube videos regarding Korean entertainment. Hallyu is not limited to entertainment of K-pop, K-dramas, and films but also culture. The spreading of Korean language, technology (especially with smartphones and cars), and the culture are all part of Hallyu.
It's not just Cambodia. A thing called the 'Hallyu wave' has swept all over Asia. A Korean pop star is referred to as a 'Hallyu star', and they're extremely popular with Asian teenagers.

Korean culture has been greatly influenced by its history of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Neo-Confucianism, which emphasize principles of respect for elders, education, and harmony. The division of Korea into North and South after World War II has also influenced aspects of modern Korean culture, leading to differences in politics, economy, lifestyle, and cultural expression between the two regions. Additionally, the Korean Wave, or Hallyu, has brought Korean pop culture to global audiences, resulting in increased interest in Korean language, food, music, and TV dramas worldwide.
