The way that prairie farming has changed is almost the same way that technology has changed because farming and farm equipment have changed with technology. Vehicles, tractors, and other equipment have become much more fuel efficient in the years. The way that the equipment runs has also changed, now there are semi-trucks that can carry more weight and there are bigger combines and tractors. Something else that's changed is the fertilizer and chemicals used to help the plants grow and survive. The fertilizers have become better in the ways of making a better quality crop, making them grow faster in harsher conditions. The chemicals, they have made the plants more impervious to disease and to keep insects off of them.

From years ago to today, the amount of physical labor that farmers have had to do has changed dramatically. From years ago when farmers had to go and cut the crops and bring them all in by hand to now when you can simply drive a combine up and down the fields. Back when the settlers came here there was no electricity so surviving alone was much harder without heaters in the winter or things like that.

An example of a huge advancement is the auger. From ones back in the day that were made of heavy steel with engines that broke easily to the ones today that now have powered cranks and have 4 wheels so they can drive instead of being hauled around.

The main reason for all the changes is to make the work much easier for the farmers and also a lot safer.
