∙ 13y agoI'm not 100% sure but I think that it was originally modified from alphabetically ordered to prevent people from typing too fast, because the keyboard was originally invented for typewriters, and they would jam or mess up when people typed too fast. Therefore they modified it to the QWERTY thing, but I guess people caught on to that as well.

It never has been necessary to use a qwerty keyboard. I know for a fact that Greece uses very different keyboards. It's just that qwerty keyboards were the original keyboards.
