The unemployment rate has continued to climb since President Barack Obama took office in 2008. The unemployment rate in 2008 was 5% and it took an average of 9 weeks for people to get reemployed. In 2012 the unemployment rates have climbed to 8.2% and it now takes a person an average of 20.1 weeks to get reemployed.
