Today's adolescents are influenced in ways that no other generation has ever seen. The Internet is the primary difference in today's adolescents as compared with previous generations. And along with the Internet come additional dangers. Before (and now), adolescents had to be aware of strangers on the street. Now, thanks to the openly available information exchange through the Internet, adolescents must be careful of strangers everywhere! Furthermore, adolescents have increased exposure to readily available harmful materials that can be found on the Internet.
Many adolescent stereotypes are based on racism, sexism and other acts of prejudice. The most common one's include that they are lazy, unintelligent, violent and unmotivated. These, however, are stereotypes and do not apply to many adolecents, and so should not be used to refer to them.
Parents can ensure the safety and privacy of their children when it comes to toddler selfies by setting strict privacy settings on social media accounts, educating their children about online safety, monitoring their online activity, and being cautious about sharing personal information or images online.
