Jehovah's Witnesses have won numerous Supreme court battles and set many precedents regarding many religious freedom issues. They have also convinced many criminals and immoral people to change their lifestyle dramatically. They strive to be examples of model citizens including scrupulously paying their taxes. They are often first on the site of national disasters to help fellow witnesses and non-witnesses.
They have went through many (well over 40) supreme court trials because of their stance on not saluting the flag, not serving in the military, and their unwavering dedication to preach door to door. They have eventually won nearly all the court battles they have been involved with, and thus set a standard for a great deal of religious freedoms in the United States.
The PBS documentary "Knocking" focuses on how Jehovah's Witnesses have really impacted the rights and laws of the American culture and religious freedom laws through litigation.
