The Romans' created statues that were looked as though they were real. They also depicted every flaw of the person being sculpted to make it more lifelike. People would be able to "read" the statues and remember what the person did or be made aware of some honor or quality of the person. More modern sculptors have taken similar approaches when designing statues. This is done to make the statues as realistic looking as possible.
