The most startling change to the natural environment of Egypt as wrought by man is the creation of the Aswan High Dam which has prevented the seasonal floods of the Nile River and created the massive lake Nasser, flooding a large section of Upper Egypt. Additionally, mass irrigation and less stringent pollution regulations have also harmed the environment in Egypt.
