Deforestation not only affects Mexico but every country that suffers such environmental problem.
Excessive logging destroys the environment, as trees are removed and their roots no longer keep the soil from being washed away by air and rain; also many species of plants and animals that could be researched for medicinal purposes are lost.

∙ 9y agoThe most striking effect is soil erosion, making the once-forested area into a grassland and eventually, an arid patch of land. It seems once a forest disappears, the soil never fully recovers -- one example is the Sahara desert, which was a thriving forest some 10,500 years ago, but due to natural climate change, became the dry wasteland a mere 7,500 years ago.
Other effects include changing the water cycle and loss of biodiversity due to habitat loss. Finally, as more and more trees are cut down, less CO2 is absorbed from the atmosphere, thus increasing climate change.
