Follow the upper radiator hose to where it connects to the gooseneck which is held to the engine with two bolts (usually). After draining the radiator and removing the upper radiator hose from the gooseneck, remove the bolts from the gooseneck and the thermostat should be just underneath. The gooseneck is also called the thermostat housing.
