There is a great deal of symbolism in The Bible and it is very important. There are meanings attached to certain numbers, eg. 7 for perfection as in the 7 days of the week, or 70 times 7 for the number of times we should forgive our brother. There are the parables of Jesus Christ in the New Testament, of which many symbolize the Kingdom of God. There is symbolism in the Passover of Exodus in Christ's sacrifice as the Lamb of God, and He also likened His body and blood to the bread and wine of the Passover meal. See links for more info.
