Religion preserved culture when education, history, or learning was not valued. The monks kept learning alive--reading, copying books, writing histories, creating art, music, architecture, used classical languages, even practiced science.

There were strong beliefs of Christianity, Judaism, and Muslim beliefs. it was during the middle ages when barbarian tribes, as the Romans called them, started the middle ages building castles. now in most of the middle ages it was Christianity that ruled. that's how it came to the crusades. the tribes of castles were also made up of remaining roman soldiers who then also became part of the middle ages.

Anyway to sum up the story most beliefs were Christianity and some Judaism and Muslim beliefs.
