The US came into the war right at the end, forcing the German forces to accept an armistice (Surrender) with the allied forces because they would have been unable to fight off the US troops as well as the Triple Entente. Later, when the Treaty of Versailles was drawn up by the 'Big 3,' Woodrow Wilson, the US president at the time, was one of these leaders. The other two were;

David Lloyd George of Britain and

Clemenceau of France.

However, despite participating in the Treaty of Versailles and the invention of the 'League of Nations,' the U.S. then backed out of both signing the Treaty, and joining the League.
