Cirque Du Soleil is a contemporary circus, meaning it leans towards more of a theatrical performance (human arts, skill and ability are the basis- and most specifically no animals are used), while Ringling Brothers B&B is more of a traditional circus that still uses animals and a "the bigger the better" get up, with lots of performers and glittery costumes.

They also have a more refined style in presentation from the choreography and music to the costumes and performers. Cirque du Soleil sets very high standards for the performers and only the best in the world can make it to their cast. Their shows are very artistically done and often have a story or theme behind each as if you were watching a play. They also create a new soundtrack, story line, and style for each new show they create.
