Jenova was "a calamity from the skies"--a malevolent alien lifeform that crashed into the Planet 2000 years prior to the events of the story. Jenova eventually was subdued by an ancient race called the Cetra, and was then sealed away until Shin-Ra unearthed it millenia later, thinking it was one of the Ancients. Shin-Ra's scientists then created the suprahuman SOLDIERS by injecting their paramilitary forces with Jenova cells and showering them with mako. Sephiroth was one of these SOLDIERs.
After discovering this secret, he went axe-crazy and burnt down Nibelheim, killing all survivors save Cloud and Tifa. His ambition is to destroy the Planet, then "sail the cosmos" in search of a new planet in the name of Jenova, whom he believes to be his mother (his biological mother is, in fact, Lucrecia), who was, as he puts it "wronged" by the Cetra and is the "true", rightful god of the Planet.
So if anything, you could say that Sephiroth is an avatar of Jenova's will. But that's getting into theoretical territory-land, so that's enough of that.

Is Cloud a clone of Sephiroth?
Cloud is a 'Sephiroth Clone', but not a clone of Sephiroth. In game terms, a 'Sephiroth Clone' was simply someone injected with Jenova's cells, and who Sephiroth was able to control indirectly due to his own link with Jenova. It does not imply they are a clone of him, in the traditional sense of the word.

Why is Sephiroth so angry at the world?
Sephiroth is angry at the world because he believed that everyone betrayed him by lying to him about who he was. He was told that his mother was Jenova, but was never explained as to why or what Jenova actually was. On top of that, he found through various means in Nibelheim that Jenova was a alien and not a person at all. Sephiroth was never told about his real mother, only about Jenova and that created a strange bond for him as he now knew he wasn't "exactly" human, but no one told him this. In Nibelheim, he found a lot of the answers about himself and Jenova on his own. I am convinced it was this act of constant reading about his humanity as a science project that drove him mad. It did not help that his only friends in the world were not there to listen or to console him. Sephiroth felt that Jenova WAS an ancient, captured and brutalized by the humans just as he had been told lie after lie. So, he found that humans were the big problem and set off to help Jenova do her bidding as she was still able to suggest things to Sephiroth that she wanted.

Sephiroth is the Son of Lucrecia and Hojo. He was known to be born from JENOVA, a life form that tried to destroy the planet, but that was only a theory by Professor Gast. And that's why you should never eat cookies without milk... Anyway on with Kadaj When Sephiroth was defeated by Cloud at the end of FF7 he entered the life stream. But Sephiroth (being Sephiroth) refused to go into the life stream and he broke up into three remnants of himself. There is Yazoo, Loz and Kadaj...There not completely Sephy They have a 50% mind of there own...When the film (advent Children) starts they are 2 years of age even though they look much older than 2. Kadaj is the leader of the SHM ( the silvered-haired men), Although he is youngest (16) and Yazoo and Loz are much older ( 20-22) he is the most charismatic so his brothers mostly rely on him for things... Kadaj is constantly on a search for his "mother" This is because he is infact 2 years of age and he wants a mother to love for him like all kids need...But alas, Sephiroth kicks in his part and "Jenova" is what Sephiroth needs to come back so that's why Kadaj thinks that "mother" is Jenova (which it isn't he doesnt have a mother :S). Infact Kadaj hates Sephiroth due to Jelousy he knows his "mother/Jenova" wants Sephiroth back and he thinks that "jenova" wants Sephiroth more than him ( aww :( I would Choose Kadaj over Sephiroth anyday ;)..) Sephiroth is the last boss in Final Fantasy VII and is a really strong guy made from Jenova. He was really helpful to the Shinra Company, but as he found out he was made from Jenova, he got angry and hated everything except his mother, Jenova. He comes back in the movie Advent Children with Kadaj receiving blood from the head of Jenova. (You should really see the move, it's MEAN!)

Yes and no. The way I understand it is that Cloud, Sephiroth, and the three Remnants are only really related through sharing Jenova cells. Sephiroth was injected with Jenova cells when he was in the womb and upon discovering as an adult, the false truth about Jenova being his mother, went insane. After displaying an unprecedented amount of strength and defeating Sephiroth, Cloud was experimented on by Professor Hojo, who infused him with Mako and Jenova cells. While in the Lifestream, Sephiroth tried to resurrect himself, but because the memory of his physical form was somewhat lost to him, he was unable to give himself a new body. So he conjured the forms of three young boys, Kadaj, Yazoo, and Loz, into whom he poured all of his pain, anger, and hate. Collectively, the boys care called the Remnants, and though appear to have their own thoughts and feelings, act on Sephiroth's will. He unleashes them out into the world to find Jenova's remains so Sephiroth can ultimately use Kadaj's body as a vessel to return to life. Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo call themselves brothers, and are fairly correct to do so. And considering their creation, one could call them Sephiroth clones - as they are referred to throughout the FFVII anthology - or one could say that Sephiroth is somewhat like a father to them in that he created them from himself. They call Cloud their brother, presumeably because he shares Jenova cells, though the truth is poorly explained. Furthermore, the Remnants refer to Jenova as "Mother" simply because they're acting on Sephiroth's will and since together, they are in deed Sephiroth himself, they also have fragments of his memories and are filled with his own emotions; so in the end, since Sephiroth thinks Jenova is his biological mother, the Remnants do too. That could be an opinion but I'd have to say Sephiroth. It is an opinion and it's usually between Sephiroth and Kefka. Personally, I say Kefka because while was sane and compassionate until he became Jenova's puppet, Kefka was working of his own free, deranged will. Kefka just likes destroying things, Jenova/Sephiroth wants to kill off humans.

Sephiroth's objective is to attain Godhood, by "becoming one with the planet", meaning that he intended to absorb the life energy that the planet would have gathered to heal the wound inflicted upon the planet by Meteor. As for the Jenova Reunion, Sephiroth simply used it to obtain the Black Materia that he needed to summon the Meteor.
