Mother's Day is a fairly recent holiday in India, but it is catching on quickly. Indians have a deep respect for mothers and commercialism and globalization has helped spread awareness. It has taken root in metropolitan areas and is spreading to smaller cities.

India celebrates Mother's Day much the same as it is celebrated in Western countries. Gratitude is expressed to mothers and families get together. Presenting cards, flowers and gifts to mothers and children cooking the mother's favorite foods are common practices on Mother's Day. It is truly a day to pamper mothers.

Programs are held and women oriented products are launched for the occasion.
