Then, he cheated on his second wife, divorced her, then married the woman he was cheating on her with. Commentators have noted that Gingrich himself was involved in an extramarital affair during the same time period in the 1990s that he was calling for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton because of the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal.
UPDATE:On December 20, 2012, conservative Republican Newt Gingrich, who famously has a lesbian daughter, announced that he has given up his opposition to same-sex marriage. He said that its legalization is inevitable and that he is okay with that. He encouraged his fellow Republicans to likewise cease their opposition to the legalization of same-sex marriage.
