Well -- if Tom really is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, he probably was:

1) Either born into a Witness household, with a Witness upbringing; and then at an appropriate age of accountability, Tom would have dedicated his life to Jehovah God in a personal prayer; then symbolized his dedication by public baptism; and bingo, that's how he is one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

or 2) Someone might have visited Tom's home, and sparked his interest in living 'on earth' in paradise, instead of trying to get to heaven. He liked the idea, and started studying with the only religious group who teaches it. After a good solid intensive (not expensive) study program; for perhaps a year or two; Tom would have requested to meet with the elders to see about baptism. Then he too would have dedicated himself to Jehovah God in personal prayer; and after the recommendation of the elders he would have symbolized his dedication, by submitting to water baptism (his first baptism in another religion not being recognized by Jehovah God.)

3) In this whole interim of time, Tom would have stopped celebrating birthdays, Christmas, Halloween, etc. Tom would have stopped smoking, gambling, swearing, and all the other vices. If Tom was living immorally, or was addicted to pornography; he would have had to 'shape-up' and discard such abhorent conduct. Tom also would have been trained for the door-step ministry, that being a requirement for us to recommend and accept Tom for baptism. (We don't just baptize anyone off the street; who might still be a part of a false religious organization.)

That's HOW Tom (from Eddsworld) would have become one of Jehovah's Witnesses.
