The cotton boles are picked from the cotton plant (in the US this is done by machine) and formed into a bale of cotton which is then sent to the cotton gin to remove the seeds. Then the cotton fiber is turned into thread and woven into fabric at appropriate factories. Where I live, we often have the first bale of cotton in the country (US), which is picked by hand and machine.

The very fluffy tip also known as the "flower" on the tip of the stem . Also the seeds are removed so your clothes aren't itchy
