no it is not it is most closely related to the mongoose and stoats and weasels
[Side note - I have recategorised this because the Fossa is not a feline. It is from the Mongoose family, namely a member of the Eupleridae family.] The Fossa hunt and eat small and medium sized mammals, reptiles, birds and sometimes insects or even crabs. They will hunt both on the ground and in trees, they will hunt in packs during breeding season and alone at other times. The Eupleridae are related to the mongoose family, but are not true mongooses.
A fossa looks basically like a large mongoose with a tail about the same size as its body. Its face is like a Fox Terrier with long whiskers but its ears are kind of like a lion cub's.
The media with so called experts claim that fossa is a close relative of mongoose allthough it got allot more feline features. During the past when humans stept the first time into madagascar, it is told there lived a giant fossa that was big as a lion, proven by finding fossils in caves... Anyway,i personaly would claim it belongs to the feline category or to absolutely new species.
the fossa's paws help the fossa to swim the paws are like paddleds

No, the meerkat is a type of mongoose, and they are not related to mustelids.
it is related to the mongoose, and i also think the ferret.
Yes Sri lanka does have mongoose species. See related link for more details.
Not at all. The mongoose is a placental mammal and the kangaroo is a marsupial. The two animals are not even remotely related.
