The technician has a "wand", similar to what is used on a pregnant woman's stomach to get "pictures" of the baby (an ultrasound). Then the technician puts a squirt of a jelly type stuff on the end of the wand, and puts it against the skin, over the heart. A "picture" or "movie" of your heart, as it is beating, appears on the video screen. As your heart pumps, the technician will periodically push a button that takes a "still picture" of your heart. The wand is moved around against the skin, and multiple pictures are taken. When done, the clear jelly is wiped off your skin and you get dressed. The technician then gives the "pictures" to your cardiologist (heart doctor) who then looks at them to see if there is anything abnormal. The test is painless and takes about 20-30 minutes.
