The polar bear is wakes up in the spring, and at first it can not see or hear, and does not have fur until a year after it is born. After this year passes, the cub still stays with the mother for 1 more year, so that the mother can teach the cub how to hunt, make a den, and survive in the wild. When this is done, 2 years have passed since the cub was born and the polar bear cub only stays with its mom for 2 years.
