At the end of the remote that has the hole your key chain goes through, you need to put some thing thin (like a butter knife) between the two halves and carefully snap the remote open(it actually comes apart pretty easily). Then take out the battery, go to a radio shack or the like, and replace the battery. There is a small steel clamp that holds the battery against the little printed circuit board and one of the two leads that goes through the PC board on mine had become unsoldered. I used a low power soldering iron (25 Watt?) and resoldered mine and been good to go ever since. Seems like GM to me cost to replace remote was like $175 or some such sht...I treat my set of keys much more gently now...good luck Scott
How do i you program keyless remote for a 2004 malibu?

How program my keyless entry remotes for 2003 chevy malibu
You do not have to reset the keyless remote after battery replacement.
Take a small common screw driver and twist it in the seam.
You will need a scan tool to program this Keyless Fob.
Open the keyless remote and you will see the battery take it out and replace it with the same size.
small flat head screw driver pops off the back cover and there is a nickel size battery that needs to be replaced
Cut open the remote with xacto knife , unsolder and replace the battery.
Your keyless remote might not work for your 2002 Chevy Tahoe because the battery in the remote is dead. You can replace this battery by prying the remote cover off of the back of the remote or by removing the screws holding the cover closed.
