Physics and chemistry are essential for Biology. Many biological processes cant be observed by the naked eye and so we need tricks to make visible.

The most important physics contribution for biology is the microscope.

By arranging lenses in exact order the smallest cells become visible. Lately many advances have been made we can use electron microscope which uses electron instead of light. We can use fluorescence microscopes where we can exploit another physics principle. Certain chemicals are fluorescence which means they basically excite photons (light particles). And these fluorescence chemicals are combined with antibodies to stain specific cells.

Also MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), X-ray's, CAT scans and fMRI all exploit physiscs to make certain structures visible without having to cut open subjects. X-ray crystallography for example was used to determine the structure of DNA. fMRI where blood flow can be measured is used in neurobiology to map brain activity. Also its possible to divide certain cells in a culture by using magnetism by coating antibodies with magnetic beads specific for a certain cell type. There are many more tricks that are used but I think you get the picture.

And chemistry well without chemistry there wouldn't be biology. Biology is mainly chemistry the interactions of certain molecules makes us a living breathing individual. The list of contributions of chemistry is therefore endless.

Is evaporation physics or chemistry?

Evaporation has more to do with chemistry, but it could be used in physics possibly.

What is a two-way table used for?

People use Two-Way Tables to examine the relationship between two categorical variables. Example Question Megan has collected information from people in her year group about which science people prefer. Complete the two-way table to show her information. Biology Chemistry Physics Total Girls 20 15 50 (20 for Biology, 15 for Chemistry and 50 is the total) Boys Total 40 33 100 ( 40 for Biology, 33 for Chemistry and 100 is the total) First, we can work out how many boys were asked in the survey. To do this, we take the number of people asked (100) away from the number of Girls asked (50). 100-50 = 50. 50 boys were asked in the survey. We can work out that 27 people like Physics because 40 + 33 = 73 100 - 27 =73. From there we can see that 12 boys like physics since 15 girls like Physics. 15 + 12 = 27. Next, we can see that 20 boys like Biology since 20 girls like Biology and 20 + 20 = 40. To work out how many girls like Biology, we add up the total of girls that preferred Biology (20) and the total of Girls that like Physics (15), add them together and work out what we need to add to the total (35) to make the total of 50. In this case, it's 15. So 15 girls like Chemistry. We can see that 18 Boys like Chemistry since 33 - 15 = 18. So this is what your completed Two-Way table should look like: Biology Chemistry Physics Total Girls 20 15 15 50 Boys 20 18 12 50 Total 40 33 27 100 You will then be asked questions from this table like: ' How many Girls were in the survey?' (50) ' How many Girls prefer Biology?' (20) ' What is the difference between the total of Boys who prefer Chemistry and the number of Boys who prefer Physics?'(6)

Explain the advantages and disadvantages of subdividing science into many different areas?

The problem with subdividing science into diffrent ares is that there is often overlap between them. The boundary around each area of science is not always clear. For instance, much of biology is also chemistry, while much of chemistry is also physics. And a rapidly growing area of physics is biophysics, the application of physics to biology. What types of science are involved in forensic science?

botany chemistry biology zoologyANY of the sciences may be used to solve legal questions and therefore 'forensic' might be appended to that science - e.g. forensic geology.Commonly used in the crime laboratory are Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

What is the application of chemistry in hospital?

Medical science, as in all the drugs, medicines and technology Also if you mean "science" there is energy used by the equipment (physics) and there is light and heat transfer (physics) and also chemistry with chemical reactions of the medicine, as well as the biology of the cells.

How is chemistry physics and astronomy related?

Astronomy uses both physics and chemistry. An example of physics is the study of gravity and the planets' orbits round the Sun. Chemistry is used to study what stars are made of or what the planets' atmospheres consist of.
