The idea of divine right (or natural law) is the idea that the will of god is being enacted through one man (king/ Monarchic/ Hegemon/ Emperor/ G.W. Bush i.e. whatever) He (I only say he because we all know it wouldn't be a woman ;) He is the tool of god on earth so to speak. Absolute Monarchs wanted absolute power. Which meant no one made decisions except for that ruler. The Absolute rulers used Divine Right as a way to justify this absolute power. They stated that their power was God given. So if anyone tried to go against the Absolute Ruler's power it would be seen as not only going against the Ruler's power, but also going against God.
