It isn't. During "Earth Hour", people are encouraged to turn off all lights and electrical devices, as some sort of symbolic gesture about the need to conserve. It accomplishes next to nothing.

"Global climate change" is a meaningless phrase concerning the paranoia about changing weather. Back in the 1970's, people feared "global cooling"; more recently, the worry was "global warming". Since neither one was happening, the new buzzphrase is "climate change".

However, "change" is what the climate DOES. There are natural climate cycles of warming and cooling; the annual cycle of winter and summer, but also 100 year cycles and 1000 year cycles, which are entirely natural in origin. In Roman days, London was a fairly warm city; then it got quite cold during the Dark Ages, when the Vikings sailed south. By the year 900, the world was warming and the Vikings went west to Greenland (because it was a "green land") and settled the coastline with dairy farms. By 1300, the temperature was falling again. In the 1700s, children were skating on the frozen canals of the Netherlands, and George Washington's army dragged cannons across the frozen Hudson river. The temperature started to warm in the early 1800s, and we're probably approaching the high point of this long cycle. We didn't cause this warming - and we won't be responsible for the cooling which will probably follow by 2050 or so.

No matter what Al "Chicken Little" Gore says, the sky is NOT falling.

What is climate change global warming causing?

"Climate Change" and "Global Warming" are not the same, though related. Global Warming causes Climate Change. With Global Warming we understand the warming of the earth's global temperature. That warming has in turn an effect on the earth's global climate and on more localized climates (like the climate of England or Western US).

Not quite, though they are very closely connected. Global warming is the warming of the earth. This is causing climate change, which is the many different changes in climate that are beginning to happen.

What do scientists hypothesize that an anabnormally rapaid rise in earth's average temperature will lead to?

Global climate change. Higher average temperatures on earth will dramatically affect the climate in all parts of the world. All parts. That is what is contended, and it is absolutely correct. The idea of global climate change is sometimes tagged as "global warming" by some, but it is probably more correct to call it global climate change. Lastly, there is no debate that the earth is undergoing a global climate change. The debate was over a long time ago. (It is only continued by individuals who cannot grasp the technical concepts of the ideas, and they are not so difficult to understand.) The earth is warming. Change is here and more change is coming. It will get worse before it gets better (if it's going to).

Why is the phenomenon called global warming more accurately described as climate change?

It is not. They are not both the same, in fact, they are cause and effect. Global warming is the warming of the earth. This warming is causing climate change.

Is greenhouse effect is the other name of global warming?

Strictly speaking there is no other name for global warming."The whole earth heating up" might be another name.Global warming is causing climate change, so many people think they are both the same, so they say:"Climate change is another name for global warming", but they are not really the same.
