Any one person's electricity consumption makes an extremely small contribution to global warming, but any one person can also make a contribution to minimising global warming by reducing electricity consumption as much as possible. Every small increment in greenhouse gas emissions is moving us closer to the future when uncontrolled global warming could have catastrophic effects on our economic and social wellbeing.

Electricity is usually generated by burning fossil fuels - coal, oil and gas - releasing additional carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Since carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, the continued release of new carbon dioxide into the atmosphere results in global warming.

Global warming, in turn, causes climate change - more frequent storms, flooding, drought, and rising sea levels. If allowed to continue out of control, this will have a catastrophic effect on our economic and social wellbeing.

How does mining affect global warming?

Mining of anything uses energy, either in the form of electricity or by using petroleum driven machinery. This releases carbon dioxide into the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. In addition, if the mining is for coal or oil or any of the other fossil fuels, then when that fuel is burnt it releases the carbon dioxide that had been safely stored underground for millions of years. It is this EXTRA carbon dioxide that is contributing to global warming.

How does the handloom industry affect global warming?

The hand loom industry has a very low carbon footprint, hardly any effect on global warming at all. It uses no electricity, hence no greenhouse gases emitted.

How does good grounding in your house affect electricity bills?

'Good' grounding, or earthing, has no effect whatsoever on electricity bills. Electricity bills are based on your property's energy consumption. Grounding is simply a safety feature of the electrical system; it draws no energy.

How do you stop human impact in Antarctica?

Humans who populate the Earth affect Antarctica, apparently by increasing global warming. Humans can reduce their consumption of fossil fuels and potentially reduce global warming. This answer may be one-sided, but as more and more people become convinced that the science above is accurate, more humans can reduce their consumption of fossil fuels.
